RYA Day Skipper Theory Course
RYA Day Skipper Theory is a theory-based course aimed at prospective yacht skippers and inexperienced crew looking to boost their knowledge and skillset. The course itself offers a comprehensive introduction to chartwork, navigation, meteorology, and the basics of seamanship.
Its goal is to help prepare you in making the key decisions needed onboard to skipper a small vessel in familiar waters. The RYA Day Skipper Theory course is open to anyone and while some practical experience is desirable, it is not required.

The course consists of 6 weekend sessions: 27-28th of February, 6-7th, 13-14th of March 2027, from 10:00 to 18:00 at Finkenstr. 11, 85416 Langenbach (just a 5-minute walk from Langenbach railway station).
This will be an intensive classroom learning combined with homework during the week. The course includes two written exams: General Assessment (seamanship, safety, the collision regulations, buoyage, and weather) and Chartwork Assessment. Participants who successfully complete the exams will receive an RYA certificate.
